Back on a regular schedule, fingers crossed. My big project for this week was finishing Chapter 19 of Shattered Skies, thus bringing a close to Act I. I took a "me day" yesterday to celebrate, during which I proudly did nothing productive whatsoever, and today I started fresh. This week's goal is to finish Book II Chapter 5 and get it posted, so I can take it easy for whatever's left of my birthday week. (It's on Sunday, by the way. Hence, tasakeru828. Really original. I chose it back when I was an internet newbie... I would probably change it to BHSDesk, if it didn't require a subscription to do so.)
I'm trying a new productivity exercise, by the way... something I read about on Neil Gaiman's Tumblr. I'm trying to write at least 400 words a day. It seems like a pretty small number, but it adds up fast, and once you get into the writing groove it goes by in a hurry. So far it's been really helpful for getting stuff done. I blew past that and then some with today's stuff: some exclusive bonus material for the digital edition of Tasakeru Book I, a bit of incentive to pay for it instead of reading it on the website. I hope it'll entice my future readers.
The other notable news of the week is a very interesting development on my best friend VDrake's end. This weekend's MLP featured a changeling exile named Thorax who eventually made friends with Shining Armor and Cadance, which is strikingly similar to the plot of VDrake's The Changeling of the Guard, for which I am editor and sounding board. That much I'm willing to believe is a coincidence. The pun in the title ("The Times They Are A Changeling") being the same can be accounted for by virtue of it being a really good pun. But this...

Thorax's disguised form having a strangely-detailed urn as a Cutie Mark, just like Idol does, leads me to believe that VDrake must have a fan on the show's staff. I mean, of course they know what's going on in the fandom, and CotG HAS been #1 on FiMFiction several times... and judging by the reaction of at least one of VDrake's readers, I'm not the only one who noticed. Coincidence or not, I'm hoping this will drive up traffic to the story and propel it into the upper echelons of ponyfic, where it deserves to be. SHUT UP, VDRAKE, DON'T GIVE ME THAT MODEST BULLSHIT. YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE, DAMMIT.
